How to choose a snowboard
We help you choose your snowboard
These days, there are many different types of snowboard on the market. To help future snowboarders make an informed choice, we can divide them into three main categories.
The first and most widespread category is freestyle. These twin-tip boards allow riders to use the snowboard in both forward and switch positions while maintaining a similar sensation on different types of terrain. The flex of these boards ranges from soft to medium.
The second type of snowboard is the all-mountain board. Unlike twin tip boards, these boards have a different flex distribution and slightly longer edges, which are designed for forward riding. Riders will therefore experience different sensations when using them in switch and need to adapt accordingly. The flex of these boards ranges from medium to stiff.
The final category is the powder snowboard, designed for riding in fresh snow. They are characterised by a wider nose and a narrower tail, which allows for better flotation in deep snow. They also feature bindings positioned further back to improve flotation and reduce the rider’s energy expenditure. Recently, many different shapes have become available on the market, designed to make riding in fresh snow easier. The flex of these boards is generally stiff.
